What is Circles® of Grant County?
Circles® of Grant County is a non-profit organization that seeks to empower families to move from poverty toward thriving as well as equipping our community to change systems that perpetuate poverty. Circles is a relational, multi-generational, and long term approach that aims to address the generational nature of poverty by equipping families with the resources and support to shift the family's trajectory. History in Grant County In 2012, poverty was identified by the city of Marion as a pressing concern in our community and a series of conversations was initiated that focused on the nature of and methods for addressing poverty in Grant County. These community conversations, named Synergy 2012, brought together more than 150 community leaders and ultimately resulted in the identification of the Circles® model as being the best fit to address local poverty. How It Works Circles® facilitates intentional friendships between under-resourced families (Circle Leaders) and other community members from throughout Grant County (Allies). Circle Leaders make a holistic range of goals that include areas of life such as economic, educational, spiritual, physical, career, etc. Circles Coaches, Allies, and the broader Circles network of community members support and connect these families with resources as they progress toward their goals. |
